MV Composites step things up with the introduction of the IECHO BK4 Digital Cutter

Recent installation of an IECHO BK4 digital cutter for MV Composites.
Before the installation, MV Composites were cutting carbon fibre “kits” entirely by hand — a process that demanded both time and manpower. Mathew, spokesman for the company stated:
“It was really time-consuming and inefficient. It required a lot of manpower and led to quite a bit of material waste. Because we often had multiple rolls of material out at once, it also reduced our control over the material and affected its lifespan.”
He also estimated that with 18 laminators, the company was losing around two hours a day to manual cutting, the business faced substantial productivity losses and material waste. Recognising that the process was limiting efficiency and growth, MV Composites began searching for a solution that would combine speed, precision, and long-term reliability — key qualities that led them to the IECHO BK4 and Sabur.
“We got in contact with Sabur after exploring our options, and they were really helpful from the start. To be fair to them, they spent a lot of time talking us through the whole process, even though we were also considering other options. Nothing was too much trouble — the conversations were open, honest, and never pushy, which made the whole experience positive from start to finish”
MV Composites are specialists in pre-impregnated carbon fibre composites, primarily serving the Formula 1, automotive, and motorsport industries, as well as niche sporting applications. Their work ranges from short-run prototype production to large-scale manufacturing, requiring accuracy, repeatability, and consistent results. As they put it,
“We specialise in cutting pre-impregnated carbon fibre composites… supplying the Formula 1, wider automotive & motorsport industries, though we also do a bit of work in the sporting sector.”
The IECHO BK4 now plays a crucial role in delivering the precision that they needed. Its cutting accuracy allows MV Composites to work more efficiently with delicate materials, while its automation reduces manual handling and improves control over material use.
A Smooth Partnership from Start to Finish
After exploring several brands, MV Composites reached out to Sabur to learn more about the IECHO range. From the first conversation, they found Sabur’s approach to be open, honest, and supportive — something that stood out during the decision process. Once the decision was made, installation was quick and straightforward. The Sabur team guided MV Composites through setup and training, ensuring everything ran smoothly from day one.
“We had a slight issue at the start, but Dan and the team dealt with it really quickly. Overall, it was a good experience, and I’m confident that if we ever need anything, we can just pick up the phone to Sabur and get help or answers straight away.”
As the team described,
“The IECHO Digital Cutter has massively improved our productivity. What used to take multiple employees manually cutting can now be handled by just one person.”
The machine’s accuracy has also reduced waste and made it easier to process awkward materials that previously required manual cutting. “Materials that are usually tricky to cut by hand are now handled with ease by the machine,” they explained. “The overall speed and efficiency have allowed us to take on more projects than we could before.”
One of the most notable aspects of the IECHO BK4 is how quickly the MV Composites team adapted to it. Operators found the system intuitive, with Sabur’s support readily available whenever needed.
“The feedback from the team who use the machine has been excellent,” they said. “They’ve found it really easy to learn and operate, and any time there’s been a minor issue, the Sabur support team have been easy to get hold of and quick to help.”
Value and Future Growth
When comparing systems, MV Composites found that the IECHO BK4 offered the same features and performance as other well-known brands, but at a far more competitive price.
“When we were researching options for composite cutting, we couldn’t see much difference between IECHO and other competitors in terms of features — the only real difference was the dramatic change in price,” they explained. “The IECHO offered everything we needed at a much more reasonable cost, and Sabur have been really easy to work with throughout.”
The success of the first machine has been so strong that the company is already considering investing in a second unit in the future to support growing demand.
“Looking ahead, we could definitely see ourselves upgrading to a second unit in the future. At the start, we had a general idea of what we wanted but weren’t sure about the exact specifications — that’s where Dan really helped by advising us and inviting us in for a demo. Overall, we’ve been really happy with the whole process from start to finish.”
Through Sabur’s installation of the IECHO BK4, MV Composites have achieved a major step forward in automation and efficiency. The move from manual cutting to digital precision has reduced waste, improved productivity, and provided the flexibility to take on more work — all backed by responsive support and expert guidance from Sabur.
For MV Composites, the IECHO BK4 has proven to be a smart, scalable investment that’s helping them cut faster, smarter, and with confidence for the future.
