Seasonal discounts. Are they worth considering?
Written by Aaron Burton on November 19th 2024
Big names like Mimaki have some brilliant, seasonal discounts – but are they worth exploring if you didn’t have an upgrade or addition planned into your business strategy?
Yes, definitely. It should be no surprise, manufacturers like Mimaki Europe B.V. have a strategic calendar of R&D for their products. They’re constantly developing new technologies, innovating across the board to deliver faster, stronger, better print options.
During that period of development time, manufacturers are keen to help printers align their purchasing, brand-wise, for the long term. Or in other words, there are usually deals to be found, combining hardware and software or features, warranties and consumables – occasional discounts are now the norm. That’s good news if your inventory’s naturally due an upgrade or you have spare capital to invest, but sometimes there are other reasons why it’s valuable to consider investing now rather than later.
Many seasonal offers are for printers (cutters or other finishing equipment, of course) with highly specialised features. These represent exceptional value if you’re thinking about an expansion to your business, come the New Year. Mimaki’s JFX200-2513EX flatbed UV printer is a perfect example.
For a limited time only, we can offer this UV printer with an £11,400 discount AND an extra year’s warranty – that’s 3 years in total (standard RRP is £71,395 Excl. VAT, special offer price is £59,995 Excl. VAT). But it’s not just the warranty and the price that makes this printer interesting.
GOOD INVESTMENTS AREN’T ALWAYS BLACK AND WHITE
It’s the quality of Mimaki’s print that makes it worth following up. Building on the success of the JFX200-2513, the JFX200-2513 EX offers print technology that really can enhance your basic print proposition.
You may have heard about 2.5D layered printing. While it’s technically referred to as a ‘smooth, semi-stereoscopic process’, Mimaki’s tech gives finished surfaces a ‘bumpy’ look. Thicker layers increase tactile perception on their own, but Mimaki have deployed a method for breaking down the data used for ink delivery into ordered, stepped, stacked layers in a way that adds perceptive depth to the finished product’s surface. Like this:
This means your create semi-stereoscopic prints that really bring designs to life. Think printed bricks, woodgrain, an oil painting or even signage.
It’s the Rasterlink 7 RIP that’s enabling this tech. What does it mean in practice, over and above a semi-textured finish? Better grey-scale, certainly. Perfect grey-scale isn’t the holy grail, but it’s a source of frustration – mid, low and highlights that don’t quite meet client’s standards (let alone international standards). With the JFX200-2513 EX, individual layers are processed as a separate entity. Seamless textures.
More reasons to consider the JFX200-2513 EX? Of course:
- Mimaki’s staggered heads’ carriage will print colour and white at the same time – twice as fast as the JFX200-2513. Draft mode (300x300HQ 4P Bi Normal) can deliver print speeds up to 35m2/h (376.7 ft2/h) in 4-colour + white simultaneous printing.
- Sign makers and fine arts production will be interested in three of Mimaki’s core image control technologies: waveform control (reducing overlap by discharging spherical ink droplets directly); variable dots (three different ink dot sizes enable reduced graininess); and MAPS (Mimaki Advanced Pass System) – the reduction of horizontal stripes, uneven color, or glossy streak by printing pass boundaries fading in gradation.
- Mimaki’s tech works behind the scenes, too: if there’s a nozzle problem that’s unresolved by cleaning, the JFX200-2513 EX automatically replaces the defective nozzles with other ones.
- Plus, the JFX200-2513 EX has an ink circulation mechanism in its ink tank and ink path that circulates the white ink every so often, preventing nozzle trouble in the first place ~
~ and these are all the facts you’d find in a brochure, we know that. But there’s no debate, this UV printer is a solid investment. We’re taking orders now for delivery as soon as possible – and (not surprisingly) there’s a small window for this offer. Any £11,400 discount likely to be popular.
Give us a call if you’d like to know some more about 2.5D Texture Maker, and what makes the JFX200-2513 EX such a good investment.
Please note, you’ll need to take Mimaki’s ink pack to qualify , we’ll need it confirmed before 12:00 noon Friday 20th December 2024, and that’s with a commitment to let us ship before Friday 31st January 2025.
